Is it just me?

I am finding it really hard to get back into the routine lately.
The kids have gone back to school and I have so many things on my list of things to "make and do" but I just can't seem to get back into my routine.
Is it just me, or are you all suffering from it too?
I said to myself at the end of last year that I was not going to do any sewing for the shop over the holidays. It was time to spend with the family.
(lavender strawberries)
But, I did make a few things over the 5 weeks I have had off.
I couldn't resist the temptation.
(Barkcloth cushions - small one with lavender sachet inside)
The lure of the sewing machine was too great and I did make myself the pink quilt.
(Shabby Bunting)
And I did dream up the next quilt. I have done all of the blanket stitch around the dolls and they are ready for faces (which I have been putting off 'cause it's all just too hard...).
But why is it all so hard now?
I have time on my side, no kids to hassle me, no tennis on the T.V. to distract me (shame) and cooler weather.
Um, dunno? Maybe next week will be more productive.

Kathryn I know where you are coming from & thank goodness it is not just me! I have done NOTHING!! how bad is that, I sat down yesterday & tried to come up with some new ideas & finally manged a few but now have to figure out how to make them! I don't know, maybe its the weather, I do not have Air Con in this old Fibro house (HOT in Summer, COLD in Winter) & my wee sewing room heats up like an oven & it is not cooling down at night which is when I usually sew. So that is my excuse for now anyway.

The sewing you have done is beautiful as always.

Have a great weekend

I want your sewing room lyn. I freeze all day with the heat on 74 and then at night i'm hot!! Ugh. I always say, "i'm going to give my craft a break today". So much for not sewing.. I just keep at it in between watching the animals play runway in the house. So cold out I can't get them to burn their energy out there. Your items are beautiful!

Kathryn, here's my tip for finding your creativity - have a complete break. Do not enter the sewing room or even think about sewing. Set yourself a time period eg. 1 week and keep yourself busy doing other things. This ALWAYS works for me. I guarantee you will be eager to get back into it before the week is out. I hope that works for you too. Perhaps you just need to sit and enjoy the peace for a bit now that the boys are back at school.
Hugs,
Kerryanne

I think the awful heat you are having would have a lot to do with it, it just saps your energy.
I actually like school holidays,no timetable to stick to and that afternoon school pick up does me in if I have just started something it will be hours before I can get back to it. I am sure in a week or two you will be back into the swing, though I adore the projects you did finish.....it shouldn't be too hard to get back from there...just beautiful.
Stay cool tomorrow...what a horrible weather prediction....Kiss Noises Linda

Hi Kathryn,
I totally get where you are comming from. Every day I keep telling myself to get my act together but at this stage it hasn't happened.
I was in a decent routine before school broke up last year but this year I have failed to hit the mark.
With working around 35-38 hours a week I really need to get it happening. Maybe this was just the thing I needed. Thanks!
Have a fab weekend.

Isn't it funny? As much as I love the holidays I was almost craving the routine and getting back into it but it just hasn't happened!!! I'm thinking the heat may have something to do with it , hopefully this week will be better!

Don't you just love undertaking a huge project like a quilt. Finishing up all the squares & borders? The excitement of the top quilting.. oh I can hardly stand it at that point. Mind you, I have to send mine away as they are usually 110x120 so they can't be done by me. but when I get them back, wash them in the machine and dry them... meeeeeps. So pretty your quilt. Wonderful work.
