Sew Despicable........

Last week my boys went to see 'Despicable Me 2' and loved it, they said it was much better than the first one.
More hilarious and crazy 'Minions' made all the difference.
So, my eldest (12) had a bee in his bonnet to make a minion.
Here is what he came up with.

He came up with the design by himself, I then helped him create a 'pattern', he cut everything out, then sewed it all together with only minimal help from me.
What an awesome job he did.
What a proud Mum; my boy can really sew!!!

Yep, your boy can really sew. That's a great effort- I hope he felt pretty impressed with himself at his end result, and enjoyed the whole process. I wish I could bathe both my kids with a love of crafting...but it's just not happening at the moment- my 12 year old has gone off to school dressed as a magician today though, and I did make a cape, hat and adjusted a vest and he was very impressed with his 'awesome costume'- after he said 'can you make me a black cape that is shiny and red on the inside?". Next time I will involve him more in the creating- this time was a bit ahhh, last minute!

I've been asked to make placemats with minions on them, so I'm on the search for pattern ideas. Your diagram and photos of the pieces you used is helpful indeed. I now just need to sit and draw the exact pieces for a 2d version. Thanks heaps and well done to your son for a smashing job :-)
