Yes! The quilt is finished and I'm very happy with how it turned out. The Free Motion Quilting wasn't as scary as I thought it would be and it looks (as my husband put it so eloquently) like a "real" quilt!! I finished it off yesterday in the company of some very experienced quilters. It was a really lovely afternoon and a great way to finish it off.
I love the binding stripes - pink and green of course!
It is quite addictive once you start and whilst making this one I was dreaming up the next one......
This will be the next quilt I do. Just a little sneek peek for now to keep you interested!!! (And me motivated to finish it off!!)It is my parents' 40th wedding anniversary today so we are making the trek to see them for the day. We are going out for lunch then having dessert back at their place. Mum makes the BEST lemon cheescake you can possibly imagine - light and fluffy and oh so lemony....I hope she has made this...fingers crossed!

My sister and I took a free motion quilting class and that's as far as we've gone! I'm too scared that it will turn out bunchy. I love the next quilt - it's going to be a beauty. Best wishes.
Well done Kathryn, great job. Beware though - quilting is an addiction that is hard to shake once you have the bug! A suggestion? Get into SCRAP quilting, so you can use up left-overs from your other non-quilty projects. That way, it won't cost so much, and you'll be guaranteed to have quilts that match your existing crafty objects. You can also use older blankets etc. for batting, or even edge and enlarge existing blankets - I have made a single bed quilt out of a much-loved woollen cot blanket by adding rounds of quilted borders until it reaches the right size. If you always use dedicated, new fabric and batting for your quilts, the cost can get out of hand very quickly.
Anyhow, well done, and welcome to quilting - one is a 'toe-in', two is a dabble, but three is addicted :o)

Oh My! It's so adorable! I have a quilt which has been pinned for weeks waiting me for to have the courage to quilt it...maybe now I'll give it a go. The quilt in pregress looks like it'll be a winner too!

What a lovely quilt! Can't wait to see what your next one will look like... I just love russian dolls! I would love to try doing a quilt oneday... how do you get the patterned machine print on at the end... is it all done by freehand or do you get it done professionally? (hope you know what I mean)

Ok Kathryn so tell me something, when I bought my new you beaut sewing machine (which I just LOVE) it came with one of these quilting thingy's & after years & years of sewing do you think I can use the bloody thing, no way no how. Any suggestions???
