"Lambley" and Mother's day...

On Saturday my family visited a very unique nursery called "Lambley".
It is set around a beautiful old farmhouse called "Burnside" in a lovely area outside Ballarat called Ascot. It is unique in its ability to grow specific species of plants, sourced from all around the world, that are drought tolerant and extremely hardy in our dry climate.

The beautiful entry suggests wonderful things to come.....

This is called "The Dry Garden" and is only watered 3 times a year.
Even in Autumn it was beautiful with an abundance of colour.

We are starting to think about our new garden, when the house is finished, so we were able to see how these plants grow together and what colours looked good together.

They also have "The Cut Flower and Vegetable Garden". Just take a look at these mouthwateringly yummy strawberries.

I would love this in my garden....

Even though we were not here at its' best, it was still beautiful and you could see lots of colour. Imagine what it looks like in Spring!

The way out.
The kids enjoyed running around the gravel paths, hubs enjoyed marvelling at the colour (I think he was expecting to see lots of cactus and yuccas!) and I enjoyed envisaging our new garden.
I hope all the mothers out there had a wonderful Mother's Day. I was spoilt with breakfast in bed (eggs on toast, bacon, mushrooms and a latte!) then master 8 had the brilliant idea of picking some lunch up from the bakery and having our first meal at the new house.

So we sat on the floor of the new house eating our meat pies, then had a kick of the soccer ball on the block next door. It was a great day. I love being a Mum......most of the time!

Wow! I can't believe that's a nursery- it looks gorgeous enough to be a garden on one of those house tours in Toorak. It looks like a really lovely day, and it's so exciting that you had lunch in your new house! How long until it's ready?? You must be pumped!!

How exciting ... & soon you'll be living in your new home.

Breathtaking gardens at the nursery. Never heard of a dry garden before ... that would be great to not have to worry about watering.

Have a beautiful day.

Hi Kathryn,
First off big hugs for a belated Happy Mothers Day wish! Glad that you had a great day.
I love the idea of a dry garden, having come off a farm where water use was always at a bare minimum I love things that can survive with not much water.
As for meat pies in the new house, give the boy a 'HI 5'! What a great idea!!!!

What a lovely day. I would like a dry garden like that one, so beautiful and watered only 3 times! I think that will be harder to you, to chose the right flowers to your garden!
By the way, I always forgot to say you that I've use your zip purse in USA, with my little things, in my bag!
