NOT HAPPY JAN !!!!!

Can you feel my anger in the post title?
Well after this post, I cannot believe that this happened less than half an hour ago...I have calmed down somewhat. I know the photo is blurry but I WAS shaking.....
Ok, here's what happened....
Master 6 was trying to pull Master 8's "rude" finger up (as you do).
Master 8 was trying to get away.
Master 6 would not let go.
Master 8 pushes Master 6 to the ground and his elbow ends up doing this.
Thank goodness no blood was spilled only tears.
They have missed out on something special after dinner for a week and I am thinking they will miss out on a cousin's party at McDonalds later on today.
That is yet to be discusssed with Hubs who is up at the house.
They have been told so many times not to muck around like this inside - save it for outside.
What would you do as a fair punishment?

Whoa, sorry your'e on your own on this one, not entering into it. But I can tell you what happened once when one of my little angels were running around & around the car teasing the other one when she locked the keys in the car. I had warned her that this might happen & that she would have to pay for the roadservice man to come & unlock the doors if she did this.
So I had to follow through with my warning, didn't I? Once the keys were retrieved, we went straight to the bank(before I changed my mind)& she withdrew $40 from her lonely $100 that she was saving. the teller at bank thought I was an evil mum but she didn't do it again and it didn't seem to leave any scars but she does remember the incident. We have a real laugh about it now. Good luck have a great day,
Cheers
Vicki

Exactly as your doing friend. I believe if they are old enough to know mcdonald's is fun, they are old enough to loose it as well for bad behavior. Follow your instincts.

Gentle hugs.

Biggest of hugs to you,how awful for your beautiful picture to take an elbow....why is it always our things that manage to get broke?

If you have told them everything then you must stick to it. Otherwise one punishment might be best. It is easy to overreact but that might not be the widest lesson to teach. I know only because I often overreacted and then had to back down later. Not good. Cherrie

Oh no, your poor picture, I do hope it was only the glass that broke and the picture wasn't damaged. I would say that your after dinner punishment sounds reasonable, but I'd also make it clear that they're only going to the McD's party so as not to spoil it for the cousin. But hey, I don't have kids, so in the end you have to trust your own instincts as you're the only one that knows what works with your kids!

Hey Kath,
Once upon a time, before I had kids, I used to know everything about how to raise them.. now I'm less sure by the day! Funny how that goes.
Perhaps hubs could get them to draw replacement/replica impression pictures (if yours was actually damaged, and not just the glass) - it might help them appreciate how important your art is to you, and give you a little bit of their innocent art in return, to help you feel better again.
By the way, broken or not, it is still beautiful.

Thank goodness no blood was spilled. My youngest dd was doing handstands, or cartwheels, or some other flipping kind of thing once and knocked my clock to the floor. I had spent hours doing the embroidery work on that clock.

Hang in there and don't go back on your word. It is important once you say something that you stick to it, no matter what. Don't say it if you are not willing to back it up. That teaches them you mean business and there are consequences for bad behavior. I am glad there was no injuries.

I agree with your punishment that's exactly what I would have done but doesn't seem to work they forget very easily. Mine have been banned from playstation for 1 month at the moment. They are such a handful. Take care Carol

The hardest thing parents do is keep to their word when it comes to punishments. If this makes you feel any better - I always thought I was the strictest mom around and often wondered if I should have been a bit less strict. The summer my son finished his 1st year of college (he was 18) he mentioned one evening the only he and another friend really liked their parents! The best thing we can do for our kids is lay boundaries. I bet they'll think twice before mucking about inside again!
