Make sure you bring your.....

........sunnies for this one!
I cut out the Burda Dress on the weekend and whipped this up today, just for something different.
The fabric is Kaffe Fassett's "Heraldic" and I bought it from here (when they had free shipping too) for a steal at $4.98 per yard! No-one loves a bargain more than me! (especially when this fabric is $26 per metre here)
I cut the larger size, a 14, and it fits so much better now, I don't feel like I have to breath in like the top I made (see below)
I'm not one for showing my upper arms so, I will probably wear it with a short sleeve cardigan.
I think it will be great for summer - can you tell that I have had enough of this cold weather?
This is the top. Yeah, a bit tight. I have made a skirt pattern from the bottom of the dress pattern too. I love the bias cut. I'll show you the results of that experiment later!

Kathryn, they both looked wonderful. Love the bright Kaffe Fasset, you are going to get heaps of wear out of both of them.

Lovely dress, Kathryn. Nice to think there will be a summer sometime; hard to believe when it is so cold and wet right here right now!

Hi Kathryn, I just love your work, it's all just so pretty.
I am working on my own website at the minnie, i live in Sebas. and was wondering if you could give me some info on the Bunninyong makers market??? I tried to contact Blue Ginger and had no response, and would love to come and have a look at the market, and perhaps have a stall later this year. I hope you don't mind my asking,
Cheers...Carilyn.

Hi Kathryn, Your dress and top look lovely. All your 'clothes' making brings back memories of when I used to make all my clothes and Burda was my favorite pattern book. Don't think I could do it now though so I'm enjoying seeing what you're making.. take care, Maryann

Now you made that in my size right? RIGHT? So very pretty. I was just telling my hubs, I need to find a shirt/sleevless/tank type pattern so I can make lovely shirts for myself until i'm through meno. My gosh I can't get stripped down enough. Anyway, that's a different post.. hehehe. lovely work!! Hugs. Tazzy

LOVE that dress!!! And what a steal the fabric was - lucky you! Just starting to get acquainted with my sewing machine, so now I can stop just drooling over fabric and justify buying some! :)
