Backpack, Table, Gum, Rain....

I feel like I have been a little absent this week with my blogging......
This is why.....

A custom order shabby backpack which has kept me occupied for the best part of two days.....designing, tweaking, sewing, jiggling.....
Some revamp painting.
This old T.V stand was in need of some TLC so it has been given the "shabby" makeover.
I also made a little fabric padded cloth to sit on top -
(so the T.V. doesn't ruin all that hard work!!)
I also painted a little childs play highchair (white of course) ,which I want to add some pretty rose decals to, and an old bread box. I'm not sure what I will use the box for - maybe some special things from my work room... I'll show you when I have finished those next week.

And this which has actually inspired me for the swap I'm participating in at the moment.
(The challenge in a bag mini quilt swap)
This is a Flowering Gum Tree which is in the next door neighbours front yard. Isn't it beautiful?
I can't show you any pics of my mini quilt yet because it hasn't been mailed out.

We have had some much needed lovely rain over night.
For all of my international visitors....You can tell we have been in drought mode for ten years when it is a surprise to hear rain on the roof........Bit sad really when you have to flush the loo with water from the shower and water the garden with washing machine water.......
Anyway, hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Great news about the rain!! We are lucky here in Perth as we can still use reticulation twice a week. Love the sweet back pack - no doubt it will become part of your range.

Hi Kathryn,
We have been blessed with plenty of rain her in the Eastern USA the past month or so. I'll be praying that you get a good amount.

The backpack is fabulous and I love your little table. White furniture is so fresh looking! I can't wait to see the highchair.
The Flowering Gum Tree is so pretty - I would love to have something like that living next door to me!

Great backpack! Lovely table make-over! Great Australian Tree!

Wonderful about the rain also. Can understand the water issues, we carted water for our toilets and a few special plants for 9months last year as our house dam was dry - we now have water and starting to recover - just one joy of living on the land - it's a great life.

Happy stitching,
P

Hello Miss Clever Clogs!
Your backpack is just devine! I want one!!!
I hope you got lots of rain, we got a bit up our way, but still need lots more...I grew up a farm where we had tank water, no 10-15 minute showers there, when I was small enough mum used to bath me in the laundry tub instead of filling the bath, did the job & saved lots of water. Drought is such a sad thing, I have seen the ground so dry up here when I was growing up that the ground had huge cracks in it & we got rid of most of the sheep & cattle...it's also scary that kids born in the outback may be 4-6years old before they even get to see what rain is...now that's really worrying.

Beautiful backpack. It's a good size. A good repurpose for the tv table, too. Great job. Doesn't it feel good to be able to reuse something and not put it in the waste pile? Yes, it is too bad about your drought. When I lived in Arizona water was so precious. We reused our water in very inventive ways, also.
