Countdown....

A few years ago my Mum and Dad made this beautiful Advent Calender for us. Mum did the quilt, Dad did the boxes and together they put together a little surprise inside - buttons, shells, bits of old jewellery....
My two boys were so excited to put it up, on Sunday night, to begin the countdown to the big day...

Inside the boxes are lollies for them to enjoy as well as a little something to hang on it afterward....
We haven't put up our tree yet. We can't decide whether to buy a real one or put up our "fake" one - due to the stinking cat wanting to climb up it last year and make a real mess of both the tree and the ornaments on it!!! Any suggestions???

Sophia's mini quilt is finished
(yep, couldn't sit still last night so I sewed on the binding and handstitched it down)
and ready to send with some other little things including Sheepskin booties to keep her little toes warm for their winter!
Haven't done anything today except had my hair cut. I feel like a new woman now and less like a wooly mammoth!!!!

Love your advent calender, we have along banner of little pockets numbered 1 to 24 and I put little treasures x 3 inside the pockets and the children are not to look ahead to the other pockets and they have to take turns to take the treasures out of the pockets...it is soo good for them to learn patience I tell you!
i was going to say put a playpen around the tree but I doubt that will stop a cat, what about putting bells on the tree so they make a really loud sound if said cat trys to climb it? Hmmm tricky one. Hope you find a solution soon, kiss noises Linda Lilly Cottage.

My mum used hang dried orange on the tree, cats don't like citrus, so it kept them down....

I love a real tree!xx

Looks lovely, what a lucky baby. It will be an heirloom for her when she's older.

That's a lovely Advent Calendar. I hadn't thought of the cat and the christmas tree. Hmmm I'll have to think about that myself. Let me know what you decide!!
