Life.....

Some of you may have realised that I haven't been around much lately? I have had so much going on regarding school, the shop and just daily life.
I have been reading a lot. I have found myself wanting to broaden my horizons and educate my mind. I recently read a book by Lawrence Hill, a Canadian, called "Someone knows my Name" - it was released in Canada under "The book of Negroes". It is an account (fictional but none the less realistic in a lot of ways and factual in others) of one womans life of abduction from her homeland in Africa in the 1700's, slavery, uprising and salvation and peace. I realise, after reading this book, that in this day and age we are so lucky and take so many things for granted.
So, I'm going to take a little time out to really appreciate my life, family and friends.
And, comeback with gusto!
See you soon, Kathryn. XX

Red and Blue....

I managed to finish Master 9's dressing gown last Thursday!
Yes, I actually finished it in one go; no leaving hems or hand sewing to be finished at a later date!
Whilst cutting it out, from the stash of polar fleece, I realised that I wouldn't quite have enough red so I added navy blue into the mix for the pockets, cuffs and belt.

As soon as Master 7 saw it, he said he had to have one too. Only problem is, the stash only has purple now......

And more red's and blue's for a custom order for 3 dolls, yet to be finished.
We had a hectic ,but wonderful, weekend; friends for dinner Friday, parents stayed over Saturday and a beautiful "Slow Food Harvest lunch" in the local botanic gardens on Sunday. Bliss.

London, Paris, New York.....

After seeing this post on Andrea's blog, at "The Pink Poodle", I felt so inspired to create something for hubs and I to hang on our wall to reminisce about our travels and the places we have been. I haven't finished it yet as it needs the gaps filling and varnishing.
I wanted to do the places we have both been in bigger letters and the places we have been individually in smaller letters. I shall show you when I have finished!
Thank you to Andrea for the inspiration!
I mixed up the right shade of red I was after then added a little squirt of black which I didn't quite mix in to give an uneven effect when rolled on.
I was after an aged, left on a building wall for a while look. What do you think?
Master 9 told me yesterday that is is getting rather cold in the mornings now and that he would like a new dressing gown. We dragged ourselves off to Big W yesterday to have a look.....$35.00 each...."No way am I spending that much on a dressing gown. Let's go to Lincraft and get a pattern. I've got stacks of polar fleece at home; I'll make you one".
So, the pattern is cut out........

And, I have been busy doing a few little things for the shop and for friends as well.

I haven't been posting much lately, my apologies, but life is getting in the way at the moment!

I hope you are all well? Kathryn. XX

A bit boring this week....

Where on earth did this week go?
I have been painting for most of the week; window frames and walls, yes more painting.
Will it ever end?
In between painting I did make some new covers for this rocker chair that my dad made when I was pregnant with baby no.1.
My Mum made these covers.....about 10 years ago.
Mmm, I decided that they had to go.....
And here it is, revamped with lovely new linen covers.
I hope your week was not as boring as mine!
Have a great weekend, Kathryn. XX
