Buninyong Makers Market

Has anyone started to think about Christmas presents yet? I know I have! I would love to be really organised this year and now is the time to start. The next Buninyong Makers Market is coming up on the 6th August and I am busy, busy, busy getting ready and sewing like mad making lot's of smaller 'gift' sized goodies.
Like....these 'Guinea Puffs' they will be $15.00 each, and, so much easier to look after than the real thing! Also here if you want a look at them all....

Also, for sale, if he doesn't sell here before then, is 'Cecil, the Owl'....
Lots of  TUTU Cute clip holders.....
And, I will have some 'Bella the Ballerina Dollies' too....
So, make sure you pencil in the 6th of August for the Buninyong Makers Market!
Hopefully, I will see you there!

What a mess......

I hope everyone is well in blogland, it has been so long since I posted, tut tut.......
Will you just look at the mess I am in! I just took this photo to show the sewing frenzy I am in getting ready for the Buninyong Makers Market on Saturday! A few new items will be seen including a couple of my latest creations, the 'Bella the Ballerina Dolly'........
This one was made for a customer to replicate her daughter's dress! How cute.
And this one was snapped up from my MadeIt shop.
I haven't been blogging as much as I used to, I have just been so busy lately.
I also had a lovely weekend away with the crafty gals last weekend to Sewjourn!
I will have to show you the great things I made next week (a skirt, waistcoat and jacket)
Right I had better get back to it......Kathryn. XX

Etsy overhaul........

Last Saturday's 'Buninyong Makers Market' was another successful day. The sun shone, customers were out in full force and all of the stall holders had a great day. We had raffle prizes and stall holder prizes with lot's of fun and festive spirits!
With Christmas fast approaching, and holidays looming, I spent today overhauling my Etsy shop in readiness.
I was very pleased to find that they have added a feature so that you can list your items in your chosen currency, finally. So, now all of my Aussie customers can pay in Australian dollars!
Go and check out my new look shop with lot's of different goodies added.......in Aussie dollars!

Christmas Angels....and something to crack you up!

I've been finishing off making a few more bits and pieces for the 'Buninyong (Christmas) Makers Market,
(which is on this Saturday, the 4th December).
I know, I wanted to finish last week, but I just can't help myself!
I wanted something cheap enough for children to buy with their pocket money.
I thought these little peg Christmas Angels might do the trick. I am yet to put their mouths on.
 $6 each or 3 for $15.
And, here is a little something to have a laugh at.
I bought something on ebay, from Hong Kong, and this was the little message tucked inside!
I hope you 'may happy every day too'!

Koala.....

Has it really been over a week since I last posted? Wow, the time flies and life is getting busier as we get closer to Christmas isn't it? I have begun my Christmas shopping and sewing. I have actually had a few gifts hiding in my cupboard for months! I have bought a lot from Etsy this year - previous years I have made EVERYTHING and this year I decided I was NOT going to be so stupid!!!!!
I also have been getting ready for the 'Buninyong (Christmas) Makers Market' which is on the 4th of December.  If you are free please come by and say hello!
This little Koala is my latest creation, which went for a test run this morning.
I have to send presents to a few overseas kids this year - how hard is it to buy a Koala that is not made in China? .......VERY. So here is my home grown, locally made, little bush baby.
Made with lots of love, of course!!!
I will have some of these available in my Etsy shop soon and at the market.

My creative space.....travel stuff

This week in 'My Creative Space'...
 'Travel Journal' Cushion
I have been making lots of 'travel' themed products.
The 'travel' themed notebook covers were a huge hit at the last Buninyong Makers Market.
(edited to add- listed in the shop this afternoon)
So, if you missed out last time, look out for some more on the 4th December at the next market day!
More creative spaces over here, thanks Kirsty.
What's happening in your creative space?

The Royal Guard.....

I have been wanting to make these 'Royal Guards' for ages and, after many requests for boys toys at the market on Saturday, I set to work. I drafted the pattern from the Matryoshka Dolls, with a bit of tweaking, and this is the end result.
What do you think, would little boys like them? I am thinking that I will do some English 'Bobbies" as well, by replacing the red with Navy?
Anyway, this is what I am listening too this morning......
....non stop digging and hammering at rock and more rock and more rock from next door. I will be glad when it's over but that's progress for you!
Have a great day everyone, Kathryn. XX

Post surprise.....

These cheeky things were found in a parcel last Friday, from the lovely Kerryanne, as a 'thank you' for participating in 'Simply Chirstmas' (check it out on Kerryanne's blog). It was very unexpected and I was thrilled to receive some original artwork from this very clever lady. Thank you so much Kerryanne, they shall adorn our Christmas Tree with lots of bloggy love!
Hubs asked me if I would like to join him an a little drive this afternoon to look at a block that one of his clients is wanting to build a house on.
Just look what was next door.......OMGoodness!
The building on the left of the 'house' (more like a mansion...) is a pool house! And just look at the beautiful gardens.....It is in a stunning spot with views to the north over rolling hills...ah.
How the other half live eh!!!
Anyway, in other news, the Buninyong Makers Market was another success on Saturday. We didn't get the crowds that we did with the first one, but all of the stall holders still did very well and we will be looking forward to the next one before Christmas. It was also very nice to meet some more local bloggers including Linda from 'Heartfire at Home' and Rachel from 'Picklebug'. I didn't know Linda before Saturday and I know Rachel from School but didn't know she blogged and was crafty!!!
Such a wonderful day was had by all. Thanks to everyone who came along and said 'hello'!

Stripping is really tough.....

Lavender that is!
I have had this lavender for about 10 months just sitting there waiting for me to strip it. The last lot I did (which I had run out of) took forever to do and my hands were a bit sore after it. Anyway, I bit the bullet and stripped last week! The end result was worth it. The lavender was from Kylie's place, she has a beautiful lavender hedge row and it smells so sweet. I'm not sure what variety it is?
And these lavender strawberries were made after all the effort!
They are, completely, filled with 1 cup lavender.
They will be for sale at the Buninyong Makers Market this Saturday.

Playing around....

With the blog, of course! Thought it needed a bit of an overhaul, although I  can't seem to figure out how to add linked pages beneath the header? Any suggestions? I seem to be able to add one, but no more...anyway, I'm sure I will figure it out eventually.

These photos were taken on Saturday morning before we set off for tennis with Masters 9 & 8. We were hoping it would be called off but alas the organisers obviously thought that we Buninyong peeps were up to standing around in 3 degrees and gale force winds.......and snow....

And the countdown is on again to the next Buninyong Makers Market.
The first one was a huge success. This time around we have lots of new/different stall holders so there will be something new to see for everyone. Start thinking about Christmas gifts too, bring a list of people to buy for, come along and enjoy!
Lots of last minute preparations for the market are happening at Our Shabby Cottage this week and I will be announcing the winner of the Brooch Cushion Tutorial Kit along with Kerryanne tomorrow morning!
See you then, Kathryn. XX

Round up time....

What a day;
Hundreds of people (including a coach load!), wonderful stall holders, unique and varied products and perfect weather!
Kylie and the committee team need to be thanked for putting in so much time and effort to be ready in time for the day. It was only 6 weeks ago that it was decided to go ahead and so much needed to be done to get people through the door, and stall holders interested in being part of it.
Yeah team!!!
This was my stall, and I really needed the two tables!!!
I made my first sale at 9.30 and it did not stop until 2pm!
I sold so much stuff that I have not stopped smiling about the whole day since!
A very big "Thank you" to so many of my friends and family who helped me out on the day and thank you to all of my customers who walked away happily with their purchases.
Crowds of people came through the door and the first 100 were treated with a free cupcake from "Cake". (Thanks Jen)

To buy a fat pig? Nah....

"To market, to market to buy" unique and one of a kind goods from local guys and gals?
Yes, that's what it's all about. The market has also attracted some stall holders from the big smoke, who I can't wait to meet!
You are probably sick of me telling you about it, so I will do a round up on Monday then shut up for the rest of the month, promise!
Packed and ready.

Market Countdown is on......

Yep, only ten more sleeps until the very first "Buninyong Makers Market".
The sewing room at Our Shabby Cottage has never seen such a frenzy!
I have just finished these cute little framed Kokeshi's
Everything has been tagged and labelled,
"The Handbag Doorstops" have been well and truly "stuffed"
and I think I can safely say that I will have enough stock.
That's always the worry isn't it. Now, bring on the customers!!!
Can you come and visit me at the market on the 11th?
Hope you can, Kathryn. XX

Pussikins..something little boys will like....I hope!

I haven't made any "Pussikins" for absolutely ages!
(you can see the last lot here)
But, after thinking that I need to make a few things for boys, for my "Buninyong Makers Market" stall, I pulled out my pattern, sorted out a few boy-ish fabrics and began painting a few new faces. I am hoping that little boys will like these and like the "gross" tasty little morsels disappearing into their whiskery mouths!!!!! If you have boys, do you think they'd like them? My two love them, but is that just because "mummy made them"?

A Bit Mental......

Thanks for popping by.
Yes, things have been a bit mental round these here parts!!!
The sewing machine has been receiving a right old work out this week gearing up for the "Buninyong Makers Market" (September 11th) along with a few big orders for dolls and cushions. I think my productivity has increased with Hubs working from home too; not as much time wasting on the computer!!!!!
Anyway, here is a SMALL snippet of what I have been up to this week......
Another, very foofy, "Princess Cushion"
A plethora of Matryoshka Dolls

Some silhouette cushions, Vive la France!
Another "Princess Cushion", this is my favourite so far.
And these are some mini quilts in the making.
I had this idea for a while but just never got around to it.... until today.
They'd be a nice addition to any girls bedroom wall or big girls' office don't you think?
I hope things are going well with you all? I must check in on a few blogs that I have been neglecting lately!
Talk to you all soon, Kathryn. XX

The week that flew by.....

I don't normally post on the weekend but I find myself having to play catch up today. This week has just flown by at an alarming rate. Maybe because I've had Hubs home with me all week? This week was his first week working from home, for himself, he's his own boss with only himself to answer to. Gosh, he has been a happy camper this week!!!!!
I haven't seen him much, he is up one end of the house (upstairs too) and I am at the other end. We planned it that way and it's working out very well.....so far.
Anyway, what I have I been up to all week..? Well, I decided to give one of the Burda patterns (7798) a go with some cheap fabric. I made the top version instead of the dress. I do want to make the dress for summer but I thought I'd check the sizing first before I chop into 2.5metres of fabric!
This was the result and I love it, it is really cute. It is a little firm across the bust and I will increase the size for the dress. I made a 12 but I think a 14 would have been more comfy.
It has a fabric bias binding for the neck and armholes and lovely topstitching details along with a zipper down the back seam. It was really easy to make and quick!
"The Princess Cushion"
And I have been making things for the "Buninyong Makers Market" which is going ahead! Yeah for Buninyong. If you would like more information about the market or to enquire about having a stall you can contact Kylie from Blue Ginger Designs.
"The Handbag Doorstop"
loads of them!
And the Dolls seem to have multiplied as well!
Kylie will be starting a blog, to follow, about the market so when I have those details I'll post them up here too.
Thanks for popping by and hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
